Maggie Clack
Maggie brings a rare and powerful perspective to nonprofit financial consulting — one shaped by years of living and leading from the inside. Before stepping into public accounting, she spent eight years working in the nonprofit sector, most recently serving as Executive Director of a local organization where adults with intellectual disabilities share home and build community. Through roles as Business Manager, Director of Operations, and Executive Director, Maggie developed fluency in nonprofit operations, fiscal management, fundraising, and strategic development. Her genuine love of financial statements and audit season eventually led Maggie to expand her career into public accounting, where she could serve the nonprofit sector in an entirely new way.
As a Staff Accountant at a Portland-based CPA firm, Maggie provided auditing, accounting, and tax services to nonprofit clients ranging from $20k to $250M+ in size. She supported financial statement audits through testing of internal controls, revenue recognition, and functional expense allocations, and prepared complex Form 990 returns. Through this work, Maggie deepened her expertise in GAAP for nonprofits, donor restriction accounting, and grant accounting. Her years of executive leadership allowed her to bridge the gap between finance professionals and nonprofit staff — making engagements more effective and financial reporting more meaningful for the organizations she served.
These experiences — leading nonprofits from the inside and serving them as a trusted financial professional — converged into starting a business of her own. Today, she is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of The Whole Package, LLC, a nonprofit accounting and advisory firm dedicated to helping mission-driven organizations thrive. Drawing on her executive leadership, public accounting expertise, and deep sector knowledge, Maggie works alongside nonprofit leaders to strengthen financial literacy, improve audit preparedness, and navigate compliance and reporting demands. She knows firsthand the weight of running a nonprofit, and brings that compassion to every client relationship.
Maggie holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Portland State University and a Certificate in Financial Success for Nonprofit Stability from Cornell University. Her background also includes over 15 years in Portland's restaurant industry, where she honed the enthusiasm and people-first approach she brings to every client relationship today.
When Maggie is not helping nonprofits strengthen their financial health, you'll find her hunting for treasures at local thrift shops and estate sales, enjoying great food and live music, or taking long walks with her partner and dog.
